Validus Risk Management (‘Validus’), the leading independent financial risk advisory and technology firm, today announces the appointment of Andrew Spence as a senior advisor in Toronto focusing on pension plans and asset managers.
Andrew will support Validus in the delivery of innovative risk acquisition and management solutions as the firm expands its business into the pension and asset management sectors. Drawing on his experience in strategic asset allocation and risk management, he will provide thought leadership to address complex challenges in the macroeconomic and financial environment.
Andrew brings thirty years of experience as an economist, investment strategist and risk manager in both the public and private sectors. He previously led rates and FX research at TD Securities and was a senior investment executive at both the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and OMERS. Andrew has also provided macroeconomic policy analysis in the government economic service at His Majesty’s Treasury in London and was seconded as Special Adviser to the Governor of the Bank of Canada in Ottawa bringing financial sector experience to the Bank’s monetary policy review committee.
